Der Ausgestoßener

Bzzzzzzzzzzz. Bzzzzzzzzzzz.

Ah, the sounds of one of nature’s most majestic insects, the bee! Truly a remarkable and helpful specimen to our human cause. Though unfortunately, some folks want to squash them due to misunderstood fear, they mean no harm, let them do good for our society and their own! My goodness! As the bee buzzed around me in a docile manner, a sudden abrupt sound broke the peaceful silence within my lab!

Knock! Knock!“Hmm, who could that be?” I say.

I got up from my chair and attempted to open the door. Who could possibly want my company now? Can’t they read the sign? That should already indicate that I’m busy!

CREEEEK!

“O-Oh! Hallo bruder.” The boy responds while being startled.

Well I’ll be. That black coat, that signature pink scarf, and his pretty face comparable to my own!

“AH! BRO! How’s it going?!” I hugged him as I spoke.

“Oh, I’m doing, well, fine I uh . . . suppose. I vas going to ask you for a favor.”

“Anything for you dude, I’m always willing to give you a helping hand.” I let go of him from my grasp.

“Could you, by any chance, drive me to school?”

Drive him to school? Well, this isn’t exactly the first time he has asked me about this.

“Well, er, couldn’t you ask your mom to drop you off there?” I asked.

“Our mother isn’t here.” He shrugs, before rubbing his own arm.

“Well alright, I suppose I can take you there, I got nothin’ better to do!”

Before I turned off the lights in my lab, I held up a jar that contained a fluttering butterfly, caressing it before putting it back down on the messy table full of leaves and glass containers.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe with me.” I say.

I shut the door closed behind me as me and my brother prepared to leave. We eventually got outside, so I pulled out my jingling car keys to unlock my car near the garage.

Beep! Beep!

“So, how was the academy? Did you impress anyone with your inventions?” I asked, as I hopped into the driver’s seat.“

He didn’t say a word while he sat next to me within the car. Well, I guess this is to be expected. It would seem that everytime I mention topics about the academy, he would just go silent and refuse to talk about it in general. My brother over here is quite shy, and he isn’t exactly a very social person, so I guess being there is pretty uneventful for him.

“. . .Hmm. Well, I just hope you’re doing well. Most of our family members had already graduated from there, so if they can do it, you most certainly can.” I say.

After some time of cruising and turning around town, we finally arrived towards the face of the academy.

“Well brother, end of the road.” I say, before I gave him a small hug.

“Yeah, danke . . .” He says, as he opens the door and leaves the car.

I watched my brother go towards the entrance. I then moved my car and as soon as I was about to drive off, I witnessed one of the students in a lab coat closing up on him.

“What is he . . . ?” I looked closely at the window.

In a split second, my sibling is already on the floor, squirming, as there are multiple students throwing whatever they can find right at him, kicking him and–

HONK! HONK!

“Gah, fick den kopf, get MOVING!” One of the drivers angrily shouted behind me.

“Sheiße.” I exclaimed.

I drove off in haste, trying to keep my eye on the road. However, the sheer thought of what I have witnessed makes it difficult for me to focus.

Though, now I understand the issue here.
